Youssef Helmy is a Senior Associate at Shield Advocates – Al Hawy and Hassane, with 9+ years of experience, he has a notable knowledge of different areas of Egyptian law, including, commercial and corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions and commercial matters. In addition to, banking matters, including Islamic finance, real estate finance, fintech and financial matters.
He also has particular expertise in drafting and reviewing various agreements, and conducting legal research regarding legal matters related to the type of business as well as advising Egyptian and international clients on general corporate matters and setting up a new business in Egypt, and assisting clients with day-to-day legal work.
Youssef’s professional experience includes:
- Advising TCV in connection with acquiring majority stake in Abu Auf (market leader in nuts and dried fruits in Egypt).
- Advising the Arab Republic of Egypt in issuing sovereign bonds worth USD 8 Billion and EUR 4 Billion and updating the sovereign bonds program.
- Advising, among others, EBRD, JBIC, NEXI NIPPON Export and Investment Insurance and HSBC Egypt in connection with the financing of 500MW Wind Farm Project located at Gulf of Suez, Egypt.
- Advising the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD) in connection with several Murabaha Facility granted to several entities in Egypt.
- Advising EBRD in connection with a loan up to USD 250 Million to City Centre Almaza S.A.E (a subsidiary of Majid Al Futtaim).
- Advising HSBC, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America in connection with offering and selling securities, in addition to ISDA Agreements and Derivatives.
- Incorporation Fawry for Insurance Brokerage, NSA diagnostics, Eco building, and Blue ribbon Egypt.
